Nutritional assessments
Nutritional testing assesses multiple important biochemical pathways including methylation, cellular energy and mitochondrial function, detoxification, oxidative damage, neurotransmitter metabolism, amino acid and fatty acid metabolism, and even bacterial and yeast metabolism. Nutrients are required as cofactors in these biochemical pathways in order to function efficiently. Since everyone's biochemical makeup is different, assessing these pathways can provide individualised nutrient needs for each patient.
The NutrEval is the most comprehensive nutritional profile offered by Genova Diagnostics and is designed to be an at-home collection for patient convenience.
Hormonal health
Genova offers saliva, urine, and blood testing to assess adrenal, thyroid, and sex hormones. Testing is appropriate for cycling females, peri- and menopausal females, and males.
Hormonal imbalance can result in fatigue, weight changes, menstrual irregularities, menopausal symptoms, low libido, memory issues, and others. Using hormone testing, Nutri Therapy can customise individual hormone and/or nutritional therapies.
Gut health
These tests use stool, breath, and urine specimens to uncover information about gut inflammation, immune function, digestion, absorption, the microbiome, infections, and gut mucosal integrity.
A comprehensive stool panel provides an ideal starting place for assessing gastrointestinal complaints. It offers the advantage of casting a wide net, evaluating multiple functions in one profile. A stool analysis assesses digestive function, intestinal inflammation, and the intestinal microbiome, which may contribute to symptoms.
In addition to common gastrointestinal complaints, Nutri Therapy can assess gut health for numerous other conditions including autoimmune diseases, mood disorders, skin and others. There is a tremendous amount of research linking GI function and the gut microbiome to overall health.
Immune function
Genova uses blood testing to detect hundreds of food and environmental allergies (IgE) and sensitivities (IgG). There are multiple ways the body can react including IBS, headaches, autoimmune disease, skin and joint issues, and others. Removing triggers often resolves symptoms.
Additionally, the Coeliac Profile is available for patients with signs of malabsorption and GI complaints.
Speciality testing
Risk assessment is important for prevention. Genetic Single Nucleotide Polymorphism, or SNP testing is available using a convenient buccal swab. Genova also offers Cardio Check to assess cardiovascular risk factors.
